AC power outlets
The 42DS is supplied with 4 single 12V DC sockets as standard in the positions shown:
- Fore cabin
- Saloon (chart table)
- Aft cabin (hanging locker bulkhead)
- Aft end of cockpit table (Not shown in diagram on right)
I decided to fit an additional socket on the bulkhead at the forward end of the saloon.

12V DC socket with cover and backplate plus 2 1m lengths of tinned 4mm˛ wire (black and red).
Installation notes
The simplest way to connecting the additional socket is to wire it to the existing 12V socket in the forecabin. The rear panel on the hanging locker in the fore cabin is only held in place with 6 screws. This gives good access to mount the new socket on the bulkhead ahead of the hull window in the saloon. It also makes it very easy to run 4mm˛ tinned wires between this socket and the wires feeding a similar socket in the forecabin.
