Electric winch
A very reliable piece of equipment and a great boon. It makes short work of reefing or furling both the main and genoa. The upper section is regularly checked, cleaned and greased at he same time as all the manual winches.
The motor and gearbox were removed on 28th May 2025 for a more thorough service. The brushes were found to be almost completely worn away and required replacement. The commutator was also cleaned to remove scratches before fitting the new brushes. No sign of any gearbox oil leak and all in good order.
