All our Jeanneau 42DS regular maintenance tasks are listed in this Excel spreadsheet. It shows when tasks were carried out and has some additional notes.
Change oil and replace filter before winterising engine (Carried out afloat a day or so before lift out).
Flush raw water system with fresh water (Run engine for 20 mins.)
Flush raw water cooling system with 25% anti-freeze to inhibit corrosion
Drain raw water cooling system
Remove raw water impeller (pump rotates clockwise) DIY Extractor tool details
Remove fan belt
Check oil level
Check coolant level
Check & clean strainer
Spray heat exchanger element core with fogging oil
Drain water trap
Spray engine with WD40
Clean anti-syphon valve
Remove exhaust water injection elbow for cleaning
Spray foggiing oil into inlet and exhaust manifold (Re-fit exhaust elbow).
Wash and apply non hardening polish to hull/topsides and leave to dry. This protects GRP and windows making cleaning easier
Wash teak decks and cockpit
Drain water tanks, clean via inspection hatch and pump vinegar into pipes
Drain hot and cold tanks using all taps & showers (including stern shower)
Remove hot water tank element for cleaning, inspect and clean tank
Clean cold water filter
Open water tank hatches and sponge dry
Flush both heads through with fresh water followed by washing up liquid and then drain
Pump antifreeze through both shower drains
Withdraw log and put in blanking plug
Rinse anchor & chain
Clean anchor chain locker
Remove all running rigging and run messengers
Grease headsail furling upper bearing after removing the sail
Clean & condition all interior cushions
Fit winter curtains
Remove, clean and store sprayhood and cockpit cover
Remove wind generator and store
Remove solar panels and store below deck. Leave a single 100W panel connected to Epever MPPT regulator
Slightly overfill T105 batteries and set MPPT regulator for winter (float with monthly eq. to mix electrolyte)
Move bowthruster battery to sit beside start battery, fit fused links to connect all batteries and then disconnect Smartgauge/Smartbank
Check all opening windows with a hose to ensure no leaks
Fill dehumidifiers (6)
Block all hull openings to keep out insects
Block all openings in boom to stop birds nexting
Check all seacocks operating
